The LEIA Lab currently has open positions for (1) PhD student and (1) Postdoctoral Researcher.

The LEIA Lab integrates landscape ecology, informatics, and AI to understand biodiversity, ecosystems, and human–nature connections in a rapidly changing world. If this mission excites you, read on to learn how you can get involved.

Graduate Students
We typically admit PhD students who already hold a Master’s degree. If you are interested, please email me with your CV and a statement of research interests that clearly explains why you want to work with me and this lab in particular.
Applicants planning to apply for graduate fellowships (e.g., NSF GRFP, Fulbright) should reach out early so we can prepare a strong application together.

Postdoctoral Researchers
For postdocs, please send me your CV and a statement describing your research background, future goals, and how your expertise connects with the LEIA Lab’s work. Applicants should have experience with independent research evidenced by publications, conference presentations, and preferably software product development.

Undergraduate Students
Undergraduates are welcome in the LEIA Lab! If you want hands-on experience with GIS, remote sensing, coding, or ecological research, please email me your background, interests, and a statement about why you want to work with our lab. This is a great opportunity to earn course credit, complete a thesis project, or gain valuable research skills through lab involvement.

Visiting Scholars
We welcome and host visiting scholars, including faculty and researchers from other institutions, who wish to collaborate with the LEIA Lab for short-term research stays. If you are interested, please email me with your CV and a statement of your proposed research activities. Please note that visiting scholars are responsible for meeting all visa requirements. For details, see the UF International Center’s J-1 Exchange Visitor Program page.
